Our goal is simple: to make the best wines from the best vines. The Pacific Northwest suffers from an embarrassment of agricultural riches and we’ve travelled far and wide to find the vineyard sites that are our jewels.

Founded in 2013, The Walls Vineyards produces wines made by and for the passionate and the curious. It stems from a collaboration between founders Mike Martin, a Seattle area based attorney who discovered the Walla Walla Valley and decided to make his future there, and winemaker Ali Mayfield, whose journey years earlier had taken her from Indiana to some of the finest wineries in the Walla Walla Valley and where she established a reputation for producing wines of elegance and refinement. Together they have realized a dream of making wines from “the best vines” from “the best places” in the Pacific Northwest that represent true expressions of the multitude of terroirs and microclimates that define this rich wine producing region.
The first wines sourced by The Walls Vineyards from the Rocks District of Milton-Freewater will debut in 2017. The first vintage of Wonderful Nightmare will be released in the Spring of 2017 – a Tempranillo sourced from grapes from Stoney Vine Vineyard. Later in 2017 The Walls will release its first Syrah from this distinctive terroir and the first of its Concrete Mama series of wines. This series pays tribute to the local landmark that helped inspire The Walls name - the Washington State Penitentiary, which has been a presence in this Valley since 1886. The 2014 Concrete Mama Syrah will be sourced from Stoney Vine Vineyard and it will be supplemented in the years ahead with other offerings sourced from River Rock Vineyards and from The Walls Vineyards future estate vineyard.
